Audio system Upgrade

I have seen some recent posts asking about audio system upgrades. I thought i would do a quick post detailing my solution. A couple of items to note-

My goal was to have the audio system loud enough to be enjoyable windows down and top off. I also wanted some additional bass and overall better sound quality. I also did not want to loose cargo space or functionality for all the Bronco stuff I do, like camping in the back on overlanding trips. Oh, and not break the bank.

I used a Kenwood KAX-M3004 Amplifier https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KACM3K4/Kenwood-KAC-M3004.html?awcr=625434411246&awdv=c&awnw=g&awug=9192293&awkw=kwd-301867066720&awmt=p&awat=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw8rW2BhAgEiwAoRO5rIGBEw9_Hia9OCb723tGu5iDkrUJSFkuR1642ubLqWwbAUBwSqdu6hoC1wUQAvD_BwE

This is a “marine” amplifier. I hoped this would survive being mounted under the passenger seat longer than a standard duty amplifier. After a2+ years, it has been flawless.

Audio Control LC2i line output converter- https://www.bestbuy.com/site/audiocontrol-2-channel-active-line-output-converter-with-accubass-black/5873400.p?skuId=5873400&utm_source=feed

This unit has worked great, definitely would buy again.

This converts the high level output from the factory radio and adds subwoofer output and volume control to the rear 8" subwoofer.

Kicker dash and kick panel speakers-

They were well reviewed and a good cost vs. performance option. They perform about as I expected and I would probably buy them again.

Polk 8" Subwoofer- https://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DB842D/Polk-Audio-DB-842-DVC.html

I used this subwoofer due to the shallow mounting depth and compatibility with the small enclosure I built in the area on the drivers side cargo area. No complaints, good value, would buy again.

I did not replace the rear speakers. The added cost and complexity of another amplifier and making the Forscan changes to make the rear speakers full range was not worth the effort in my opinion.

I did work in 12v electronics for over 10 years, so I am familiar and experienced designing and installing audio systems. Total time, including building the custom subwoofer enclosure- 8 hrs. or so.
