I finally gave into my frustration and added a better rear light in the Bronco. For the rear seats it was an improvement, for the rear cargo area it was a game changer! I have seen these from a couple of different suppliers. I took a risk and bought it from a non-make Amazon company and sure enough, same exact part has prices from less than $50 to almost $100. Looks great. I have a similar from Mabett that has worked well. An upgrade that was well worth it.
